The Ultimate Dreamy 7 Day Bali Itinerary - Part 2

Day 4

DRIVE: MUNDUK —> ULUN DANU BERATAN TEMPLE

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple

I’ve always wanted to visit this wondrous temple but never had the chance to as it always seemed to feel like it was in the middle of nowhere. Turns out, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is actually really close to Munduk, making today the perfect opportunity to pay it a visit. This temple is famous because it is situated in the middle of a lake surrounded by water. However, this view is more often seen during the wet season when the water level is high! When we visited, there was no water surrounding the temple, however it’s still a beautiful spot to see!

The entrance ticket is 50K IDR and expect to spend around 1 hour here. If you are interested in taking a boat ride on the lake, you can also do this during the day however when we visited, the boat ride experience wasn’t open.

DRIVE: ULUN DANU BERATAN TEMPLE —> HANDARA GATE

Handara Gate

A short 10 minute drive away from the temple is Handara Gate - this popular spot is actually just the entrance to Handara Golf & Resort. However, as this entrance got popular for photo-taking, the resort decided to start charging visitors fees to visit & take images. There are separate fees for entry (30K IDR per person), parking (5K IDR) and using a drone (100K IDR). When we visited, there were only a couple of other groups around, however I’ve heard that if you just so happen to arrive during a busy time, then you could expect to wait in line just to have a look.

It’s gorgeous by the way, with the mountain ranges peeking from beneath the clouds. But maybe also because we saw it with few people around & that added to the magic.

DRIVE: HANDARA GATE —> WANAGIRI HIDDEN HILLS

WANAGIRI HIDDEN HILLS

A further 10 minutes drive from Handara Gate will take you to a string of Bali Swing style attractions where you can take some pretty cute pictures with the stunning lake in the background. There are plenty of different companies operating similar parks down the road and so we simply chose to visit one of them - Wanagiri Hidden Hills to have a look. Here, you can take images with a beautiful little swing suspended from a tree, bird nests and other art creations. We chose to visit this one in Munduk instead of the ones in Ubud because I heard the ones in Ubud are super crowded with long lines. I used to think these little spots were just randomly found in Bali, but turns out they are actual tourist operations and set up intentionally in a row for people to conveniently take photos at, which kind of takes the magic out of it. But nevertheless, a little fun for the gram and an easy way to get a few pretty pictures with your loved ones without much effort!

Entrance is 100K IDR and maybe allocate around an hour here depending on how many people are around. There are staff there who are able to help you take photos should you need assistance. I think there were about 6 different spots here all lined up in a row and we visited three of them (the swing, which was by far the most popular), and two bird nest structures.

BONUS STOP: HYDRANGEA FIELDS

You may or may not find publicly accessible hydrangea fields in Munduk - we had some belonging to our accommodation Munduk Moding Plantation which we were able to check out. They were so beautiful!

DRIVE: MUNDUK —> UBUD

It’s time to say goodbye to your time in Munduk - one night here kind of didn’t feel enough for us so if you do have an extra day to spare, consider adding on a second night in Munduk, if anything to enjoy the serenity and your accommodation especially if you’ve booked somewhere special like Munduk Moding Plantation!

The drive from Munduk to Ubud is about 2.5 hours. Whilst the two areas look really close to each other on the map, the roads in the centre of Bali actually all go vertically due to all the rivers and mountains, so you have to drive all the way down then up again to reach Ubud, if you know what I mean.

If you have time in your schedule, ask your driver to stop off at some waterfalls as there are quite a few to check out on the way - Gede, our driver, offered a few to check out but we were running late that day so sadly didn’t have time to check them out.

CHECK IN @ UBUD ACCOMMODATION

There are soo many beautiful places to stay in Ubud and this time round, we stayed at The Udaya. I fell in love after seeing their stunning Celebration of Flowers flower bath that they offer in-house at their spa and knew we had to visit.

It’s probably quite late by the time you arrive at Ubud (which is why I totally recommend an extra night in Munduk should you have the time for it). Relax, it’s been a big day so tomorrow we’ll balance it out with something a little less packed.

Day 5

Floating breakfast at The Udaya

If you happen to be staying at The Udaya, you’ll most likely want to book the floating breakfast experience at least once! Otherwise, enjoy a lazy breakfast in at your resort (told you it’s an easy day!) or at one of the many cafes in Ubud.

Celebration of Flowers bath at Kaveri Spa

I’m pretty sure that even if you aren’t staying at The Udaya, that you can still book in to visit their in-house Kaveri Spa. Kaveri Spa was made famous by its show-stopping flower bath which you most definitely should book! If you book at Kaveri Spa, it’s 45 minutes per session.

I loved it so much we actually booked another one to have in-room as well.

Lunch & afternoon @ Dtukad River Club

For lunch we’re heading to Dtukad River Club - you can book tickets for this on Klook and it comes with a complimentary meal and drink, so let’s take advantage of that! Dtukad River Club models off the idea of those popular beach clubs that dot the coastline in Seminyak, etc however this one is situated by the river instead. There are swimming pools here, a giant swing - what I originally came for but ended up chickening out from going on, as well as free access to the adjacent Tegenungan Waterfall which makes entry to the river club really good value as if you visit Tegenungan Waterfall on its own, it is 15K IDR per person which compared to a ticket to Dtukad River Club which gets you entry to so much more, as well as lunch, it’s worth getting this instead.

Day 6 

Morning @ Tegallalang Rice Terrace

Tegallalang Rice Terrace is one of those busy places in Ubud so it’s best to visit in the morning if you can! These rice terraces are a must-visit if it’s your first time in Ubud and also most definitely deserve a second visit as well. The rice terraces here are quite big and getting around it involves a bit of walking up and down steps so it’s best to wear flat shoes.

Afternoon @ Ubud Market

No trip to Ubud is complete without a wander through Ubud Market! Being that Ubud is the last stop on our itinerary, it’s a great chance to pick up a few souvenirs and gifts to take home today. Ubud Market is filled with local crafts and over here you can find plenty of straw bags, baskets, wooden bowls, homewares, hats, clothing and more.

DAY 7

MORNING - LAZY!

Unfortunately it’s time to say goodbye to Bali! Choose to take a lazy morning in exploring the resort (which is what we did - I booked in our second flower bath haha), or head out to see some more attractions in Ubud - you can choose from Campuhan Ridge Walk which is another rice terrace place closer to Ubud centre, visit a waterfall or temple, do a yoga class or take a massage.

But don’t forget to pack your bags and check out!

DRIVE: UBUD —> DENPASAR AIRPORT

Allocate a comfortable 90 minutes to 2 hours for your drive back to Denpasar. As traffic can be unpredictable, do plan ahead just in case! Thanks so much for following our Dreamy 7 Day Bali Itinerary - I hope you and your loved ones had so much fun!
